Product Description
Composed for Diaghilev and the Ballet Russes, Daphnis and Chloe was drawn from an ancient Greek fable. Ravel announced his intention to "compose a vast musical fresco, less scrupulous as to archaism than faithful to the Greece of my dreams." I purchased my first score of Daphnis and Chloe when I was in my early twenties. It was small but it was a treasure to me. I even had it bound. I paid $25 for it which was a lot of money in the fifties. Now, many years later, Dover has printed a much larger version for much less money. For someone who loves Ravel's masterpiece as much as I do it's a must have. Highly recommended!
