Product Description The Real Books are the best-selling jazz books of all time. Since the 1970s, musicians have trusted these volumes to get them through every gig, night after night. The problem is that the books were illegally produced and distributed, without any regard to copyright law, or royalties paid to the composers who created these musical masterpieces. Hal Leonard is very proud to present the first legitimate and legal editions of these books ever produced. You won't even notice the difference, other than all the notorious errors being fixed: the covers and typeface look the same, the song list is nearly identical, and the price for our edition is even cheaper than the original! Every conscientious musician will appreciate that these books are now produced accurately and ethically, benefitting the songwriters that we owe for some of the greatest tunes of all time! This Bb edition includes 400 songs: All Blues * Au Privave * Autumn Leaves * Black Orpheus * Bluesette * Body and Soul * Bright Size Life * Con Alma * Dolphin Dance * Don't Get Around Much Anymore * Easy Living * Epistrophy * Falling in Love with Love * Footprints * Four on Six * Giant Steps * Have You Met Miss Jones? * How High the Moon * I'll Remember April * Impressions * Lullaby of Birdland * Misty * My Funny Valentine * Oleo * Red Clay * Satin Doll * Sidewinder * Stella by Starlight * Take Five * There Is No Greater Love * Wave * and hundreds more!

real book - a great purchase July 25, 2008 As a saxophonist and singer, I have found these real books an invaluable tool for performing the jazz standards. I am new to jazz, coming from a pop/rock/dance background, and found the books really easy to read and they've helped me to learn the tunes without a problem. For new musicians who need to get to know the standards and have a book or two on hand to play along with other jazz musicians, these are well worth the money.
Jazzy sassy attitude, this book has everything. January 25, 2008 Well okay, not everything, but the very best pieces for a beginner (underline that) to start with a nice new trumpet. The book is comprehensive, well written (you DO know how to read notes, don't ya? otherwise you're gonna need some lessons, not that it's rocket science and all) and provides an adequate amount of songs. All of them are known and a must for any jazzy sassy player out there..
Real Book, Real Great December 8, 2007 This book is a must have for any Jazz musician. Songs like Anthropology and Cheroke are among the greats you'll find in here.
A 'real' sweet deal October 17, 2007 I ordered the Real Book (B Flat, Sixth Ed) for my son for his High School Jazz Combo assignments and practices. We were going to pay $40+ tax at the local music store in town. It came on time, nicely packaged and we are very, very happy with it...It was and is a 'real, sweet deal". We love Amazon!
Great Book June 6, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this book a while ago, and let me tell you, it has helped me with my practicing on many occasions. I play the clarinet and tenor sax, which are in the same key, thankfully, so I played the songs from the book which helps with sightreading and playing different rythms from the norm.
