Grandson Loved it!!! & Grandma gets him to like Reading! December 29, 2008 My 13 year old Grandson Loved this book I got him for Christmas & Grandma gets him to like Reading more!! he plays Guitar and his dad also liked it allot! though the price went up after I bought it!
Good for beginners, and for people who feel they could improve September 20, 2008 I purchased this book as it was required for a guitar course I audited at my University. The book covers a great range of material, and is much more than a chord/scale book.
This book goes into some of the history of the guitar, the components of the guitar, equipment used with guitars, and more. It also provides some basic knowledge of traditional musical notation, as well as tablature (TAB). The book offers pointers on song creation, and transposition of notes and chords, and, of course has a chord glossary.
Personally I've been playing guitar for eight years now, and I found this book to be useful in teaching me new ways of looking at a guitar, and helped my understanding of song structure. I feel I will keep this book (as compared to many others that I've left along the wayside) as a general reference as I continue improving my guitar playing skills.
I suggest that any beginner, or any guitar player interested in improving, think seriously about investing in this book.
Best All-Around Guitar Book August 25, 2008 I found this to be the best overall guitar book on the market. It gives extensive background information, as well as having extensive scales, chord charts, fret layout, etc.
This is my third purchase of this book. I always seem to either give it away or lend it to a fellow guitarist and end up never getting it back.
Highly recommended for the serious guitar beginner.
Great for a beginner June 12, 2008 As a beginner at the guitar, I have found this to be a useful guide. It covers construction and care of acoustic and electric guitars, as well as information on how to read music, music theory, and playing the guitar.
Guitar Handbook January 21, 2008 My son was happy to get it for Christmas and feels he will use it a lot.
