| Customer Reviews:
The Generosity of Duke Robillard February 6, 2008 Yes, the CD is worth the price alone. In one ear you can study the rhythm side of each track and in the other ear start to work on the many choruses of each track. Duke wants you to understand what he's doing and where it comes from. He's as interested in the guitars as he is in the music and the book is loaded with information about the history of the music he plays and the instruments he plays it on. There's a great section of suggestions for listening and anecdotes of the greats he's studied and played with throughout his career. I suspect co-author Dave Rubin has done a lot to make this package so accessible.
Also check out Duke's DVD lessons on his hero, T Bone Walker, along with a Hot Shots DVD of lessons and a concert DVD of him playing.
Guitar Signature Licks: T-Bone WalkerBlue, Jazz and SwingIn Concert
A good primer on Duke November 2, 2007 If you're a fan of Duke Robillard's guitar style, this book and CD will give you the foundation to play jump blues, down home blues and even some jazzier numbers. Duke has many influences and they are evident in the selections. All are in clear standard notation and accurately tabbed. The level is intermediate and not too difficult to grasp. The CD is well produced and allows you to mute Duke so you can play along with the provided track. However, I've just played the CD on it's own and it's very entertaining. In fact, some of the numbers are shorter instrumental versions of tunes found on Duke's full length CDs. This is a must have for anyone interested in jump/swing/jazz blues, T Bone Walker guitar stylings and just darned good inventive blues guitar.
