book 3 covered some advanced topics, but not in detail. It does give you some idea so that you know what area do you want to go further.
However, the CD is not working properly. Guitar Center changed the CD for me, but it is NOT working properly either. I contacted Hal Leonard Corp. Their answer is : contact the dealer (In my case Guitar Center)...
I guess I will leave Guitar Center alone, but Hal Leonard Corp should have better quality control.

My daughter has been taking guitar for a year and half and is really doing well with the Hal Leonard books.
