One and a half thums up. May 9, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This would be a great book for the beginning/intermediate student. It has a good written overview of what makes the blues style and important musicians that helped shape it.
The song tracks take you through seven different grooves/styles with good warm-up excercises. Unfortunately they didn't include recordings for each exercise. Had they done that I would have given this method book 5 stars.
The charts that accompany the song tracks (one with the full band, the other minus the drums but with a basic "click track") are easy to understand and follow.
Overall, a well written book. If you've ever been wondering "how" to get that blues groove sound, this is a great book to have!
Good book January 11, 2007 This is a much needed book on a often neglected subject, the blues for drums, The book is not to long and the exersises are concise and progresive ultimatly making you a better drummer in any idiom.
