 Some Parts of the Ventures Book and CD November 22, 2008
The CD skipped when I played it because of the packaging. It's in a cheap plastic sleeve held in place with tape.
You peel off the tape and pull out the CD. You also drag the CD over the tape residue and gunk up the surface.
I had to spray and polish it to get it to play right. Then I put back in a clamshell case inside the crummy holder.
The book and CD only covers parts of some songs like Diamond Head, Hawaii 5-0 and Wipe Out.
It goes into depth on "Let's Go" covering the guitar solo parts but if you are looking for the definitive explanation of the finale of Hawaii 5-0, Nokie's finger picking lead on Wipe-Out or the guitar lead (not melody) of Secret Agent Man, you won't find it here.
Still there's much to be learned in this set for a beginner/intermediate guitar player.

It is a good book. However it does not contains all the licks for all the songs in the book. e.g. Wipeout has no lick. Let's Go missing the first lick etc. but for the licks that are there, it is an excellent presentation for the real licks.

If you like The Ventures you gotta have this book. Their greatest hits are tabbed so you can have fun soloing or put together an arrangement to play with your buddies or at a gig. I'm working my way through each tune with my Strat, enjoying every minute. A great book!
