Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Great book   January 22, 2006
This is a great book for learning Afro-Cuban rhythms. Most of these rhythms are based on the 3-2 or 2-3 clave rhythm, so once you learn that everything else is built upon it. I've been using the book and CD for about eight months and am very happy with everything it covers. Learning to play a 3-2 son clave on a drumset for the first time is like climbing a steep mountain at first, but once you get it it's a thrill. The CD has 40 tracks and demonstrates the correct feel for each musical style. The author is an excellent drummer herself as evidenced by the CD. This is the book when you are ready to learn Latin rhythms. I plan on getting the author's Brazilian Coordination book next, but for now this book gives me a lot to work on. Recommended.

5 out of 5 stars The very basics and more   March 13, 2005
This book provides you with the very basics and takes you a bit further. This book should be used first and then use the Robbie Ameen book to advance your studies. This book got what many lack, basics and a lot of repetition.Great book.
