Product Description The SQ50 Seiko quartz metronome features virtually perfect tempo settings, and a A-440Hz frequency tone (standard "A") that simplifies the tuning of just about any instrument. A tempo range from 40 to 208 beats per minute is easily set from the 39 position rotary dial. A red LED light can be selected for a visual beat or combined with a "click" sound for a visual and audible combination. Includes earphone jack. Operates on a 9V battery (supplied) and has adjustable wire stand attached that allows it to be used an any angle.

Not as good as I hoped - loose wires February 14, 2008 The wires that connect the battery gets loose sometimes, and the metronome stops working. At first I couldn't figure out what the problem was and I thought the battery was dead. It can be fixed by opening the battery compartment and attaching the wires again (my son's guitar teacher suggested taping it). This happens quite often. The metronome works well when it works though. I expected it to be better considering all the good reviews.
This is the best one available December 2, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This, in my opinion, is the best metronome available on the market today. The reason is because most metronomes use beeps to indicate tempo, and if you play electric guitar, you can't hear the beep, even at moderate volumes.
This metronome produces a very loud "click", not beep. There are two tones of the click (high and low), and volume is adjustable. It's very easy to operate - you set the tempo by turning the wheel.
Granted, it doesn't have all those fancy rhythms in it, but at least you can hear it, while playing, which is the most important feature of them all, IMO.
excellent metronome May 14, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
My daughter is using this metronome all the time as an aid during her piano practice. Small, portable, sound volume is just right (two tones are available), feels sturdy. Easy to use. I remember the time when I was learning the piano and used a mechanical metronome (try to take that pyramid to the lesson with you) - how far has technology advanced since that time! You can't go wrong with this electronic one.
A flaky on/off switch April 5, 2007 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this item for my son's piano practice. It worked ok in terms of sound and speed, until the second day when the on/off switch broke off. Then I noticed that the plastic attachment the switch had was very thin to start with. In my opinion, this is a flaky product since the on/off switch will be used many times every day and so it has to be sturdy.

The metronome was everything I expected. I wanted a metronome that was very loud so that it could be heard while playing in an ensemble and also one that had a volume control. The sound is loud enough to be heard while playing ensemble and has good volume control. It is not digital so one can easily switch tempos. It is light enough to be easily carried around. What I would have liked, but did not expect is a tempo range that goes beyond 40 - 208. Unfortunately, that seeems to be found only in digital.
