Flawed product and no service to back it up July 22, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
As a MobileMe subscriber, I (and about 20,00+ others) have just gone through the 4th day of having no email access. In most cases, you'd expect that an email provider would give its customers an explanation and a description of what they're doing to correct the problem, the estimated time required to restore the service, etc. Not Apple. MobileMe subscribers are told simply that the service is down, we're working on it, and we have no further information available. Imagine losing your email for four days (and counting) and no explanation or thoughtful communication! It is, quite obviously, a deplorable approach to customer service.
I'm not new to Apple's products and services. I've become known by friends and co-workers as the Apple maniac. But, due to the failure of MobileMe and Apple's subsequent lack of service and communication, my PC friends are now able to get loads of mileage watching me hide away, tail between my legs.... I'm embarrassed and, for sure, I've been humbled (and humiliated) by this fiasco.

I've been a Mac geek for years. I have always tried to convert people. This one program has soured me to Mac for a long time to come. Their head-in-the-sand attitude is perhaps the most ostentatious business decision I have ever seen. Not only have they done damage to individuals and businesses who rely on data, they REFUSE to acknowledge they are at any fault. They continue to lie on their web page about the status of the program, they remove any avenue of normal communication or feedback, and they remove select postings on discussion groups which are critical of their company. Keep your money and go to gmail or yahoo.
Steer well clear for now July 21, 2008 11 out of 14 found this review helpful
As of today, 1% (if you believe Apple) of MobileMe users have had no access to their emails for the last 4 days. Apple are not commenting on when the service will return or whether any emails sent to MobileMe addresses are lost or being bounced back. In fact Apple are not commenting on anything, not even to say "no comment" If you must buy this product, please don't rely on it for your email, at least until it is properly up and running.
Hopeless July 21, 2008 13 out of 17 found this review helpful
Right now, more than a week after the launch, this is hopeless. Synchronization between iPhone, MobileMe and Microsoft Outlook is buggy and appointments disappear. The web-based calendar is always slow to respond and sometimes responds with nothing more than a "server error" message. Attempts to contact Apple support get nowhere. Nobody with a serious need for a synchronised phone, PC and web-based calendar should touch this product till Apple admits it has a serious problem and sorts it out.
Nothing out there better July 21, 2008 7 out of 25 found this review helpful
I have been a Mac owner since 1988 and boy has Apple come a long way. I was already a dotmac subscriber. I just got my first iPhone on July 12 and Mobile Me is great. I also thought it great of Apple to give us MobileMe members a free month because all their cloud applications were not working as advertised. For sharing photos and videos, keeping up with email, building a personal Web Page, having access to calenders, contacts, files, MMe is the answer for me. With the addition of my iPhone it now is even better. Almost forgot to mention, for Free, Apple doubled the storage space available to anyone with an account. I looked at AT&T Yahoo for a comparable service and they wanted 3 or 4 times as much as the $99 ($79 at Amazon) per year MobileMe cost. Simple to use, worth the money. I have looked and you can't get an ad free hassle free service like this for free. Expecially one that lets you up/download full resolution photos.
