Not to bad! October 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Nice game- I played the first one alot and was really looking forward to this release. At first I wasn't very impressed it was like you were being rushed. It seemed you were forced along a path, the whole game was pretty linear it kind of lost that free roaming feel that the first Stalker game had. Don't get me wrong the game play is execellent, the graphics are great - better if you have a monster machine to run it. and the atmosphere is still twich inducing. All in all a very good game but if you haven't played the first one yet I would start with that one.
Amzing October 23, 2008 Great game, fun to play, long story mode, plus the story is really great if you have played the first one. Not much more to say....
Sure their is bugs, but what's S.T.A.L.K.E.R without bugs?
Good but buggy October 21, 2008 Definite potential to be a good game, but it's very buggy. Latest patch only fixes some scripting issues. Game frequently crashes to desktop and some quests are still bugged and uncompleteable. Hopefully the company will fix these issues, because until then it's just taking up space on my hard drive.
Unfinished October 14, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I played the first one, which was really buggy but incredibly fun. This game had less bugs (1.5.05 retail patch) until towards the end of the game, where it would crash almost instantly. If you saved the game in a place that the game "didn't like," it would crash upon loading. For reference, my setup involves an AMD 6000, 3.5GB (recognized under XP, 4GB physical), Ati 4870 512MB, XP SP3, Ati 8.9 drivers. The 8.8 drivers seemed to cause the system to crash to desktop even more.
Anyway, game-play (when it's working) is absolutely incredible. Immersive, fun, challenging, visually stimulating, etc. About 80% into the game is where all the bugs showed up. That, coupled with the utterly lackluster ending (also bugged) killed the game for me (since I had expectations from the first game). I would gladly have waited another 6 months for a finished game, a finished ending and less bugs. This could easily have been a 5-star game.
Regardless of it's shortcomings, it's still a good game and I will be purchasing any future Stalker games. The plot, game-play and immersiveness are too good to pass up.
The Bugs ruin the great game October 11, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This game is a great extension to the exciting 'Shadow of Chernobyl'. BUT, the bugs are infuriating, even after 2 update installations. Losing tasking instructions from the objectives page make it necessary to go back to the last level and sometimes to start again. Get used to the game crashing to desktop ad infinitum. This is a great shame, because when it is flowing, it is an invigorating and immersive FPS with a difference. My recommendation is to definitely buy this game, but wait until a couple more fix installations are issued.
