Worthless for analog recording February 20, 2008 14 out of 20 found this review helpful
There is a good liklihood that you will problems with this program when recording multiple analog tracks (like when you use the microphone). The program is unable to correctly identify your computer's recording latency and so.... you have to set it manually. Getting the latency just right, so there is no delay between the track you are recording and the one you recorded before it is very time consuming. I've spent over an hour and still haven't gotten it just right. Sony knows about this problem, yet they haven't bothered to write a patch to fix it.
Don't buy this! January 26, 2008 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I had the same problem another reviewer reported. I have now purchased two copies of this with no serial numbers and no help from Sony customer service. Fortunately, Amazon has been great about letting me return it.
Never could even get into it! January 18, 2008 6 out of 12 found this review helpful
Purchased this product for my husband for Christmas. It came with no serial number enclosed, which was required to install the software. Contacted Sony and they put us through the wringer online, finally acknowledging that the serial number was not there, and telling us to fax in all sides of the box, invoice, etc. to a Customer Service center. Over a week later we finally got an email response directing us to a website to obtain the serial number, but it was password-protected and they did not give us the password! At this point we gave up, called J&R Music and got a return authorization and returned the product. We bought instead Music Creator 4, and it installed easily and my husband loves it. Don't waste your time on this one.
Great for budding artists! November 1, 2007 22 out of 25 found this review helpful
I am actually a singer and was skeptical at first as to what Sony Acid can do for me. I have been amazed at the amount of effects you can play around with your voice. I am using this with a TASCAM US-144 ($150) and a Samson C15 ($50) and of course an XLR cable to connect the two ($15). You would need a Pop filter for the Mic ($20) and for under $300 (including Acid) you can have your own professional home studio for vocal/instrumental recording. Not to mention the fact that you can get loops of music that you can use if you can't play an instrument. Nothing will stop me now!!! Muahahhahhah! Lol...seriously though, good software!!!
Great for sondtracks August 10, 2007 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
I use this program to make my own soundtracks for my videos. There is a bit of a learning curve, but this program works in a similar manner to any other creative computer program. I enjoy the ability to overlay samples with my own recordings, as well as using imported sounds. The effects (reverb, delay, etc.) are a little weak, but with some internet searching, I was able to find many free effects that are of higher quality. I also enjoy the simple conversion of completed work into MP3 and wav files. The final sound is up to you. You can spend hours editing, or just throw something together in a hurry.
