Kodaly for Dummies June 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am relatively new to the Kodaly concept, but this book clearly outlines what the Kodaly method of teaching is and how to implement it into your music classroom. If you are new to teaching elementary music (or experienced for that matter), and have hit a stumbling block in how to organize your curriculum or plan your lessons more effectively, this book will be extremely helpful. It has completely changed how I plan my lessons and what I am going to teach my students. The book is organized into very clear chapters for easy referencing depending on what aspect of music education you are looking for. What really sold me on the book is that the teaching strategies section (Chapter 8) has all of the elements of music, how to teach them, and how to make sure the students are successful (the most important part!). If you have any questions about the Kodaly method of teaching elementary music, this book has the answers. It will be a valuable asset to your music classroom.
