Awesome! March 18, 2000 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I am in a junior version of this play, meaning that we only do the first half (actually, later in the day that I am writing this and I am planning to be in a production) and I just wanted to say that this book is great! It helped me clearly understand the second half, 'cause the little booklet that comes w/ the CD doesn't really help you understand! Highly reccomended!
LOVED IT January 15, 2000 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The play was so awesome. It involed easy to understand lyrics, and even if you're not into Broadway, you can view the surface. Just about everything in the play is leading to a moral. I am only beginning to scratch the surface of the underlining theme. Awesome musical. Best yet that I have seen. I HIGHLY reccomend it!
Simply the best... July 13, 1999 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
The first time I saw this, I was only 9 years old, but I thought it was great then and I still believe it is today. Then, I thought it was extremely funny to see so many fairy tales wrapped up in one story. Now, I realize the importance each story played in another one. There are so many relationships going on at the same time. Bernadette Peters is hilarious as the Witch. You share in Joanna Gleason's confusion and happiness. Little Red Ridinghood just makes you want to slap her, I think that just makes her all the more endearing. Robert Westenberg will make you howl as the Wolf. Over all, this Sondheim and Lapine collaboration has become one of my favorite videos to watch, and soundtracks to listen to.
Who's been playing with our fairy tales!!!!!!!! May 20, 1999 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I first heard the original Broadway Cast recording of this show and fell in love with the idea of turning traditional fairy tales upside down and inside out to create an exciting new look at these much loved characters ad stories. I have seen 5 different versions of this musical. The scope is incredable and each production has been totally different. Read on and let you imaginiation run away with it's self........happy reading (and singing)
Into the Woods, the most memorabl;e fairy tale of them all! April 25, 1999 Into the Woods is the most spectacular play I have ever been in, and the book is just as great! This tale is about all of the common fairy tales, from 'lil Red, to Jack and the Giant, To Cinderella, and tons more characters. This story combines tons of laughter, sad parts, and a book that you just can't put down! So get this fabulous book, or even just read the script to be taken to a magical world, and into the woods!
