Best Musical Ever! April 25, 2004

Thoroughly Modern Millie is absolutely amazing! Any young actor, or anyone who has been living a smalltown life that is just a touch too small for their taste will be able to relate with Millie's character as she moves from a small town in Kansas to New York City to become rich and make it big. The music is fantastic, my personal favorites are "Only in New York", "long as I'm Here With You", and "Forget About The Boy", but I love them all. It's an incredible modern style musical, but with a nice flashback to the 1920s. If you love jazz, musicals, or just a great family comedy, this is the musical for you!

I bought this book after listening to the soundtrack and falling in love with it. This book is great as it of course allow you to sing and play those brilliant songs from the musical. This book even have a few color pages of photo, along with a synpnosis and writer bio, from the original broadway company. The only thing I don't like about this book is that, like all other song books, the songs are not in their original key. This is to some people a good point as it is easier but for someone who is eager to sing in original key it can be a disappointment. Also, the book has every song except the song "Muqin" and "I'm Falling in Love with Someone (quarlet)". I love "Muqin" and I believe it would be great fun to sing in Chinese. The quarlet of "I'm Falling in Love with someone" which is directly after "I turned the Corner" is cut and it is one of the most beautiful piece in the show. This is the reason why I only give this book 4 stars.

I've been waiting for the sheet music of this spectacular show to come out for years, it feels like. If you love musical theatre or music in general. . .you need this music!Granted, no one is as amazing as Sutton Foster(Millie;Broadway)its a blast to sing. Even though the musical is set in the 20's, this music is fresh and fun. If you dont own the CD. . .YOU NEED IT!You'll love this music. . .rock on!
