Good to get a contemporary musical comedy album that sounds like an old fashioned musical with good music and lyrics. I do not appreciate that rock and roll seems to be taking over Broadway.

I was able to see this wonderful play on Broadway this summer and meet one of the cast, Ward Billeisen who gave a presentation for our group. Each time I listen to the CD I again feel like I am in the theatre watching the performance. It is well done.
Terrific musical score--great cast August 24, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you loved Chicago and Cabaret, you will also love this Kander and Ebb musical--great veteran Broadway cast--David Hyde Pierce, Debra Monk, Karen Ziemba, Jason Danieley, and Jill Paice. Good story, some very funny songs, excellent vocals.
No pretention, just entertainment August 23, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
After the 2007 Tony awards, I bought 3 CDs of various musicals I saw there--Grey Gardens, Spring Awakenings, and Curtains. This was my first introduction to all of them. The first two are great for different reasons--the strength and depth of the music, fabulous acting, etc. But for pure entertainment in its own right, "Curtains" has been, surprisingly, our favorite. The story (light murder mystery/romance) is easy to follow, the characters are all fun, the music light and catchy. All the members of the cast are wonderful--top notch entertainers. Everything that one expects from Broadway. David Hyde Pierce is great, and I am now a huge (new) fan of Debra Monk's.
Try this one in the car during a road trip! There are no pretentions here, just good story, good music, comedy, vim and verve. That's entertainment!
A Wonderful Musical August 19, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The songs in Curtains are amazing especially the people who sang them. I recommend wholeheartedly to go see Curtains with the orginal cast.
